A renewable energy plant which uses collected landfill gas to create power is located at the site. The energy plant has the capacity to create 3,200 kW (or 3.2 MW) of power. 3.2 MW is equivalent to powering about 2,000 homes and is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emission from approximately 18,000,000 gallons of gasoline.
The Camino Real Landfill employs over 20 individuals and contributes over $10 million to the local economy annually via vendor purchases, employee payroll, and taxes.
